Vision, Issues, & Values
Education: With 42% of Lehi’s population being 18 or under (2020 Census), continued investment in education is vital. Since 2022, Lehi has seen several important developments: the approval to create a new, locally governed school district; the expansion of Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) into Lehi; and the establishment of a new Utah Valley University (UVU) campus in the city. These milestones are helping diversify educational opportunities and prepare students for both college and careers. While Skyridge High School has opened and Lehi High School has been rebuilt, the city must stay engaged with school boards and education leaders to ensure new facilities and resources meet the demands of our rapidly growing student population.
Responsible Growth: Lehi has grown from 19,028 residents in 2000 to 47,407 in 2010, and reached 75,907 by the 2020 Census. By 2025, population estimates have surged to approximately 99,142, with projections topping 124,436 by 2050. This growth brings both opportunity and responsibility. The city must ensure that infrastructure—roads, utilities, public safety, and green spaces—keeps pace. Holding developers accountable for needed improvements is essential to protecting Lehi’s quality of life.
Regional transportation planning is now more important than ever. As a key city in northern Utah County, Lehi must work closely with neighboring cities, UDOT, and UTA to build out regional roadways, expand transit options, and promote walkable communities. A unified approach will help reduce congestion, improve mobility, and prepare Lehi and the surrounding region for decades of sustained growth.
These development patterns not only help ease traffic congestion and reduce reliance on cars, but they also support the creation of inclusive, livable communities where residents across income levels and life stages can thrive. By working collaboratively with regional partners and remaining responsive to state housing objectives, Lehi can ensure that growth brings both opportunity and balance while maintaining the city’s unique character and helping more people call it home.
Economic Development:Once a quiet midpoint between Salt Lake City and Provo, Lehi is now a powerhouse in its own right—home to major players in the tech industry and a cornerstone of Silicon Slopes. Since 2022, Lehi’s economic momentum has only grown, with major investments like Texas Instruments’ semiconductor expansion bringing thousands of high-paying jobs to the area. While the tech corridor continues to flourish, there is a tremendous opportunity to reinvest in Lehi’s historic downtown and support small businesses, ensuring a diverse and resilient economy that honors both innovation and tradition.
